On August 20...

Another beautiful Monday! I am happy to see the sun...since it's been hiding for the past days here and the rain was just draining my energy.

Time for FUN Monday...and this week's hostess is no other than the wonderful Lil Mouse!

For this week's theme, she said --

Obviously, knowing all of you bloggers out there, you broke the mold the day you were born, but what else happened? Did anything funny, serious, or sad occur on the same day in history that you were born, a birth, death or a sports record set?
I have always wanted to know what else happened on the day I was born and what special things attached to the date I was born...

I was born on August 20. And I can't find something wholesome and inspiring to relate to the complete date I was born so I guess I can just stay within August 20.

The following are international holidays and observances for August 20 --
And for famous people born on August 20...there are so many of them and one is a former president of the United States of America, Benjamin Harrison. He's the 23rd president and was born on August 20, 1833.

Most people born under the sign of Leo (referring to August month) are statesmen, writers, actors and actresses...they're all inclined to arts and sciences. I'd love to believe I am too.

Below are famous quotations from people sharing my birthday...
“He who risks and fails can be forgiven. He who never risks and never fails is a failure in his whole being.” - Paul Tillich
“I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day; I'd rather one should walk with me than merely tell the way: The eye's a better pupil and more willing than the ear, fine counsel is confusing, but example's always clear.” - Edgar A. Guest
“I think that passion and love and pain are all bearable, and they go to make love beautiful.” - Robert Plant
“Always design a thing by considering it in its next larger context - a chair in a room, a room in a house, a house in an environment, an environment in a city plan.” - Eliel Saarinen
“The courage to be is the courage to accept oneself as accepted in spite of being unacceptable” - Paul Tillich
“We are each of us angels with only one wing, and we can only fly embracing each other.” - Luciano de Crescenzo
Many years from now...when all of use are gone...maybe another set of people will be doing this same thing we are doing now...and our name will be there!

This is such an interesting topic to start the week with. Have you looked up in history books and on the net what happened the day you were born and who else were born on that date? I'd love to know! For more interesting date facts...please check other FUN Monday participants at LilMouse!

Sorry I need to add my Music Monday entry...just can't help it! I'm listening to it and singing along with my Mom...and I'm laughing with tears in my eyes...so here is the song that preoccupies our morning...Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline!

Truly...good times never seem so good!

I wish you all a sweet week!

Wow - what fabulous quotes! Great post as always, thank you! And I'm smiling at "Sweet Caroline" - that is my parents' "special song". It was playing during their first date, or something, I think. Cute!

Happy FM to you!

I love Neil Diamond.

I like that never risk never fail quote.

I got to go to ONE Neil Diamond concert. Many years ago. Not on my birthday, tho. ha ha ha.

Mmmm... Neil Diamond.

I like your take on this challenge. I was having a hard time finding anything for my DAY (as opposed to date), so I made up a day for my parents.

A Leo? I'm not so much into all those star profiles but they do eerily turn out right sometimes. And your sign seems to fit with what we see from your blog. BTW, props to IT Guy for the cool surprise gift for your camera. Had no idea such a thing existed.

I didn't play Fun Monday this week because I had a little celebrity inside story that I thought people would enjoy--check it out if your have a minute.

Mariposa,
Just wanted to say, "Hi." Also, I posted a gratitude list today. Figured you might be game to post one tomorrow.

Love,
Susan

I like to listen to Neil Diamond sing, but to look at him ... *shudder*. He kinda reminds me of a used car salesman in a sleasy kinda way.

Your birthday is SO much hipper than mine!!
