I'll Follow The Sun

The flower that follows the sun does so even on cloudy days.
-Robert Leighton

Exactly what I need these days!
Isn't it amazing that on days I need inspiration the most...I get it from a flower?
Yes...this photos and those words.
More than what I need.
A reminder.

I will be gentle to myself and to just follow the sun.

May the sun shine on you all, Happy Wordless Wednesday!

My Rose...

You are beautiful, but you are empty.
One could not die for you.
To be sure, an ordinary passerby
would think that my rose looked just like you--
the rose that belongs to me.
But in herself alone she is more important
than all the hundreds of you other roses:
because it is she that I have watered.

-The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Happy Wordless Wednesday everyone!

A Promise of Happiness

PhotoHunt: NEAR

What do you do when the thing you love the most is within your reach...yet you dare not touch it for fear of crushing it? There it is...so beautiful, calling me...tempting me to hold it close. I will not dare, not even in my dreams for I am fine keeping it at a distance. Up Close at a distance when there is no risk of crushing it. Up close at a distance when it cannot harm me. Up close at a distance when all there is, is a promise. A promise of happiness!

I wish you all a happy weekend. It feels so great to be back doing PhotoHunt!

Scaling Heights...

You have to scale the mountain to view the plain!

This is a photo of Mt. Manadalagan. The IT Guy and I took it in one of our road trips to Bacolod from Cebu. I have been an absentee in this blog and I don't have any other reason other than I was just too preoccupied scaling some heights...It is just so fun to be back with Wordless Wednesday!

Picking Flowers

...from the garden of wonderful memories!

It is at the edge of a petal that love waits.
- William Carlos Williams

I took this photo several years ago at my Grandma's garden. I think I was only 17 then...and was the edge of a lot of things! That is the closest thing I could come up with because in this old photo was written the above line of William Carlos Williams.

Happy Wordless Wednesday everyone!

You Can Fly

...but that cocoon has to go!

The IT Guy took this photo in the garden over the weekend. Yes, at the garden of my new house here in Bacolod! This is citrus plant...calamansi specifically.

I have not been well since weekend. My lack of sleep is wearing me down and I may not admit it, yes physical stress is slowly catching up on me.

We just had the biggest job fair career fair ever here in Bacolod City last Saturday! Special thanks to the IT Guy and to the staff and management.

This is the same message I was telling most applicants during the interview. Yes, the Site Director did help in the interviewing! I am just nice like that. LOL

I won't keep you all long here...Happy not so Wordless Wednesday everyone!

Be a Green Police!

Be part of the world's largest greenfield music and performing arts festival, be a be a Green Police! Yes, I am talking about the Glastonbury festival, a fun and creative way of promoting environmental concerns by promoting simple rules are follows --

* We stop people urinating in the water and hedgerows.
* We make sure people dispose of their fag butts correctly.
* We encourage litter picking, recycling and better waste management.

I have always been a lover of nature and I really admire efforts like this. Nothing grand, nothing fancy but to the point. We all can help save mother nature and be a green-keeper by keeping the fun, creativity and sexiness, which is just what Glastonbury Festival is all about. Just look at how fun it is!

While it is certainly fun and artsy, the festival retains its seriousness and intent in promoting their main objectives. All these rules will be explain to festival goers face to face and should you want to be part of it, you have to make up your mind and heart to it.

So what are you waiting for, be part of this grand festival, send in your Green Police application now!

Plants Are Good Gifts!

I'm still alive folks! I'm done all repainting projects, the kitchen, the living room and the exterior of the house. And I love the results...I think I did a good job with it. I will show photos this weekend.

I am here to do a quick shout out on how happy I am to receive Christmas gifts as early by now. And let me tell you how excited I am to find out that they are plants! Yes, I got them delivered right on my doorstep. They will look nice in my porch. Obviously the person who sent them to me knows me. She knows how I love nature and how I spend time in my garden. I am so ecstatic.

Now, I want to spread the virus and send these wonderful gifts to friends as well. I check online and saw a good list of plants to choose from. I love the poinsettia and the money tree. Hmm...I have to start making my list now with what to send to whom.

If you are still figuring out what to send to friends as gifts, you may think of sending them plants!

Something...

PhotoHunt: TWISTED

The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.
-Thomas Merton

I was able to take a photo for this week's theme last minute using IT Guy's cellphone. This was taken from the garden.

Gods Sends Rainbows

Like the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain,
so was the appearance of the brightness all around.
Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord.

- Ezekiel 1:28

This photo was taken by the IT Guy outside Basilica Del Sto. NiƱo de Cebu. His office is just across the church and he took this photo on the way home using his cellphone only. Well for the past days, weeks most of the photos you've seen here which was taken recently were all from cellphones.

Nature always fascinates me! It never failed to amaze me. And every time I see rainbows (even in photos) and other wonderful nature scenes it just humbles me. How great is God's glory...it manifests in so many ways everyday! This is one of the many reasons why I love the outdoors...I love spending time with nature...because it bears witness to God's glory and power and it reminds me that miracles happen every minute of every day.

I school we are taught why rainbows are formed. Surely most of us can explain why...but the why of all whys...I doubt it. Many attempted...and they are still searching for the answer. I am happy I have found my answer...GOD sends me rainbows...to give me hope...and to glorify Him.

How do you look at rainbows?

I wish you all a RAINBOW filled Wednesday!

I Garden

...therefore I am.

Another beautiful Monday...another day...another week...another chance to better things!

I missed Fun Monday last week...the past days were rather manic as I have to attend to some urgent matters. I'm so grateful I made it here today!

Faye of Summit Musings is our lovely Fun Monday host this week...and her topic...how awesome, "Your Thoughts on Gardening".

I so love her topic! I am a lover of gardens! As I have said several times here, put me in a garden with some book or my laptop and I'm good. ;) I can't imagine my house without anything greens...I mean, real plants! I keep telling the IT Guy...I don't care much for a big house...I just need a nice garden.

My garden as I mentioned the past week is still a work in progress. Yet I am more than happy to show you parts of it! Below is an amateur collage I did last minute for this post...

The greatest gift of the garden is the restoration of the five senses.
~Hanna Rion

I love flowers...and one of my Mom's favorite is the first photo on the left side...I forgot to ask her what it's called! Anyone knows? :D

Then I also have some bonsais. I used to climb mountains and every time I see a nice tree I try to bonsai it. I just don't have the time for it now...but still happy to have bonsai plants to accompany me in my solitude! The bonsai in the collage is a rubber tree.

The next two photos shows our very young vegetable garden. On the left side is a bitter melon or bitter gourd and we call it here as ampalaya...and the other photo shows the lemon grass...sweet yams (behind the lemon grass) and the vines in the wall, they are Malabar spinach...the locals here call it alugbati!

The last set of photos well, that is a tree from the Cypress family...and the other photos is just to show how I want everything to be green! LOL

I want my ground to be green than cemented...so I really invested on Bermuda grass for the lawn and we started planting them late quarter of last year!

The veggie garden by the way is courtesy of my Dad...he seems to grow everything! Or make that I am from a family of green thumbs! WOOT!

My love for nature in generally is something I got from my family...from parents...and grand parents. I started appreciating gardening or planting in general early as I always spend my summer vacation at my grand parents farm. The farm supplies rice...coffee...some vegetables.

The garden at home gives us some quick fix on things too. Like for instance when I need to send some people flowers, my garden has enough foliage...so I just buy the flowers. (I still have to grow roses...) We also get our vegetables from the garden...well the ones available.

[ADDED]

Pam's comment reminds me of something I've been meaning to ask if people with garden also get to have problems with fire ants. When we were just starting planting the bermuda grass that was a major issue! Not to mention the fact that my skin reacts to anything...so fire ants bites would always do damage to my skin...leaving dark spots...on top of the pain and itchiness!

Later on we learned to control it through different methods of fire ant baits and trying some fire ants killer. I will not say for now that we have totally eradicated them...but I am happy to say that we have them under control. :)

And I found this site which gives tips on how on treating fire ants bites...I personally find them useful as I did not know then what to do...as I was just worried about the scar or blemishes it will leave.

So those are my gardening thoughts...and I am so excited what others have to share...so let hop to Summit Musings to check what other Fun Monday participants has!

Wish you all a great week!

P.S.

I have updated the site I created last year for Fun Monday. I intend to update it regularly from now on to help people check the host and topic each week. I will also be updating it's blog roll for participants...

In The Midst Of It,

Bloom Where You Are Planted...

Please hover your mouse over the photo.

But son, do not forget my teaching,
but keep my commandments in your heart,
for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you prosperity.
Proverbs 3:1-2

God empowers His people so that we all can bloom in the most unlikely of circumstances. And when wedo bloom, others witness God’s glory and splendour in us. And that is how we are remembered.

For those who are interested, I am working on my post tutorial on how to do a mouse hover technique like this one. I am trying to make it easy to understand by coming up with several screenshots. I hope to publish it this weekend.
