Monday Fever: Thy Word(s)

Robin (the Pensieve) is hosting this week's Fun Monday, and she ask for the following as theme -

"...please share words that inspire and motivate you--brief or bloviatory, silly or serious, from great world leaders to last night's Comedy Central...from a Hallmark greeting card to your favorite book. Choose one, choose many; let the quotes stand on their own or tell where you first read or heard them and how they affected you. There's a lot of leeway with how this topic can be handled."

I love this theme as I have been collecting quotes since I was young...yet, this does not come easy to me because I'm so tempted to list ALL that I have. :P

So, I will just go with my mood...This post is rather late for my time as it's already Monday 4:45PM here, yet today I just lack the inspiration to move.

I went to the salon and had my nails done...and I still don't feel better! Boooo! Those of you who have been coming here, especially every Monday, knows how animated and high I am every Monday...yet today is not just that. I think everything flips by tomorrow, or I'll have one gloomy week at the start of summer here...now how cool is that?!

So, for today, I'm sharing only one quote...but it has several lines... ;)

So here goes my FUN Monday entry!

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you NOT to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightening about shrinking
so that other people won't feel unsure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
As we let our own Light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

~Marianne Williamson

But my lack of will (sad, depression, down, etc) will not mean lack of will to blog...so to keep my Monday tradition, I'm doing Manic Monday and Music Monday as well!

Manic Monday today is "PULL".

That word for whatever reason radiates some positive energy to me just as the heat of the sun gives butterfly power to fly. So, Mo....for your Manic Monday theme, I would how inspiring...and what a shame I have to post it in times when I feel I'm pushed down...yet, how timely! I'm talking in riddles, I know.

Friends, allow me to let the song, my Music Monday below to PULL me out from whatever it is that is keeping me down today.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.

When I feel afraid,
And think Ive lost my way.
Still, youre there right beside me.
Nothing will I fear
As long as you are near;
Please be near me to the end.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.

I will not forget
Your love for me and yet,
My heart forever is wandering.
Jesus by my guide,
And hold me to your side,
And I will love you to the end.

Nothing will I fear
As long as you are near;
Please be near me to the end.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
And a light unto my path.
Youre the light unto my path.

(5) Jo March (Winona Ryder), Little Women (1994)

(11) Erin Brockovich (Julia Roberts), Erin Brockovich (2000)

Quote: Look, I don't know shit about shit but I know right from wrong!

(12) Kat Stratford (Julia Stiles), 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
Quote: I hate the way you talk to me...I hate it when you stare... and the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick; it even makes me rhyme. I hate it, I hate the way you're always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry. I hate it when you're not around, and the fact that you didn't call. But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you. Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.

(13) Selene (Kate Beckinsale), Underworld (2003)
Quote: For those like me, a Death Dealer, this signaled the end of an era. Like the weapons of the previous century, we, too, would become obsolete. Pity, because I lived for it.

St. Paddy's Day Monday Fever...

Fun Monday today is a bit hard for me...Nikki our wonderful host for this week asks any or both of the following -

1.) I don't know about you, but my family is great at creating strange words that only we know the meaning. Some were created when the kids were first learning to talk, others came about when our tongues were twisted and the word came out funny. Either way, the words stuck and we still use them in our daily conversations. What created words does your family use?! Please share the story behind the word if you remember. If you don't have a made up word then tell us about the unspoken way you communicate with someone. Do you and your significant other have a look that means "This party is boring, lets split" or do you have a look that your kids know means their butt is in serious trouble? Please share!! And a picture of the look would be very entertaining!

OR/AND

2.) In honor of St. Paddy's Day, please share your worst green beer story!

Honestly, this is quite hard since English, though widely spoken in my place, is not our first tongue! But I will give it a try....

March 15, 1995...my Aunt gave birth to a very cute baby girl...let's call her by her initial JM. Every time people visits her...people for some reason would always begin by saying...Hello JM....Hello Baby...now...not all people here gets to say that word properly...so some would say Halu Baby...Halu JM...and my GrandMa, whose hearing fluctuates at any given time heard this and asked...what's her name? Aloh?! We all laughed...and was saying...oh baby....are you Aloh?! So that's how JM's nickname was created. Up until now...we call her Baby Aloh...I wanted to post her baby photo and heck...got no time to scan...there was no digicam that time yet I guess!

Last Saturday was her birthday...sorry Baby, Ate got sick and missed your birthday...but I'm making it up...so, friends...the baby...is now a young lady...let me present to you...our Baby Aloh!

Manic Monday today is: DRINK

Mariposa's Monday Fever

My dear friends it's a beautiful Monday once again!

Fun Monday's theme this week is Give Me 5s! These are about Things Left Unsaid with a Twist...the twist is...well below what I.T. Guy sets for this week's Fun Monday.

I need YOU (yes, the wonderful YOU!) to pick 5 memorable lines from 5 different movies (if you could tell us which character said it and to whom, would be a bonus)...and tell us to WHOM (who in the people in your life) you could have said those lines.

So here are my 5s!

(1)
First rule of leadership: everything is your fault. - Hopper, A Bug's Life
I'd say this to: To my boss and to all other managers at work.

(2) The older you get, the sillier you get.- Clairee Belcher, Steel Magnolias
I'd say this to: Ha, if you happen to lurk at my blog again, you know you who are. After what you did to me, and how you have left me dumbfounded with all your CRAP...I could have chose the line
"How dare you? Ingrates!" from A Bug's Life, then I realize you're way older than me in years but no necessarily in wisdom as you always claim...so this line fits you more. And may this be your motto every time you celebrate your birthday! Silly!

(3) When I'm good, I'm very, very good, but when I'm bad, I'm better. - Tira, I'm No Angel
I'd say this to: ALL my detractors! LOL

(4) You come to see me? - Bobby Bolivia, Transformer
I'd ask this to: YOU...my Oblivion!

(5) I love you. You... you complete me. - Jerry Maguire
I'd say this to:
Yummy (aka I.T. Guy)

There's still more to Monday Fever...

Manic Monday today is about Using the word can in a post. Anyway you want. Just have FUN with it!

I'm posting the song "CAN we just stop and talk awhile" and this is also my Music Monday!

Here is the lyrics of the song...

Fancy meeting you alone in the crowd
Couldn't help but notice your smile
While everybody else around us is going about
Can we just stop and talk awhile?

I've been often told our world's growing old
And that friends are harder to find
Do tell me more about yourself
We could share a thought or two
Now who would mind?

Maybe then we could go for a ride
Drive down to the countryside
Get away from the gray
And frenzied hurly-burly of the city life

Early yet to say what lies ahead
It's the first day of the rest of our lives
Can we just stop and talk awhile
Get to know each other
Who are we to know?
Love could be waiting at the end
'Round that bend and so
Let's stop and talk awhile

Maybe then we could go for a ride
Drive down to the countryside
Get away from the gray
And frenzied hurly-burly of the city life

Early yet to say what lies ahead
It's the first day of the rest of our lives
Can we just stop and talk awhile
Get to know each other
Who are we to know?

Love could be waiting at the end
'Round that bend and so
Let's stop and talk awhile
Let's stop and talk awhile
Let's stop and talk awhile
Let's stop and talk awhile

Unconscious Mutterings - Week 266

There are some things that I've been wanting to blog about but the moment my fingers touches the keyboard, my mind turns into a blank. I'm guessing maybe because I'm not ready yet to discuss about it. Maybe because I'm not one of those people who easily quit on relationships. (I'm talking about friendship!) Maybe because despite all the pain that a friend have cause me I'm still clinging to that hope that things will be put to order. I'm not expecting things to be as they used to be...just hoping reality would knock in some people's head. That rather than misunderstanding one silly incident, friends would see all things in the a greater order....and remember ALL the good things you have done for that person...ALL the sacrifices...ALL the understanding.

Am I okay? Yes I am. I just feel sad to see people go into self-destruct by being so harsh to themselves to their surroundings.

Let me just have my Unconscious Mutterings!

  1. Homicide :: Failure

  2. Divisive :: People in the Government today!

  3. Flash :: Light

  4. Steaming ::Hot!

  5. Crunch :: stomach crunch!

  6. Look out! :: As I'm always told!

  7. Anticipating :: Being proactive

  8. Slim :: MacBook Air

  9. Navel :: Source of life...

  10. Help :: Something I'd rather give than being in need of...

Feast One Hundred & Eighty Two

Appetizer

If you could be any current celebrity for one whole week, who would you want to be?

This is hard...I think I'd opt to something so simple...so I'd rather be a farm girl, who do now know anything...I want to be free from the type of worries that I have, if only for a week!

Soup

On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being highest), how much do you enjoy talking on the phone?

Maybe 9 if it's the I.T. Guy on the other line...followed by my best friend whom I miss so much! Other than, nah, I'm not really a phone person...

Salad

Name a charitable organization to which you have donated (or would like to).

I've always been helping organizations for children and women here...

Main Course

What is a food you like so much you could eat it every single day for a month?

California Maki! Remember THIS?

Dessert

Have you or anyone in your family had the flu this year?

I had...but it was very brief because I had flu shot last year. I guess that helps.

Two Memes on a Friday!

Lines from Page 123...

Lovely Gwen of
Everything I Like Causes Cancer tag me...I've done this TAG already. This will be my second time, but it's fine, I love it anyway...the first one I did is HERE.

The rule is quite easy;

1. Pick up the nearest book, of at least 123 pages.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people.

I'm home right now and is in my mini-office/study! I share this space with the I.T. Guy since he usually spends most of his time here...and does his things here. So we will see what book is at arms length...LOL

At random, I got..."When I'm In His Presence: Devotional Thoughts on Worship for Women" by Anita Corrine Donihue. I opened the first page and it has the date August 26, 2000. I bought this book 6 days after my birthday... ;)

On page 123, OMG...it has only one word, and that is "Faithful".

Now, I don't know if I have to jump to the next page...but just in case I should...

Page 124, sentence 6th to 8th...

"Help you? The Creator, the Controller of the universe? I don't help."

This is chapter talk about faith...and how timely. I have to read this book again...or at least this chapter.

Since I did this already...I'm not sure if I can still tag some people.

Let me try...I TAG the following sexy people from my HNT (Half-Nekkid thursday) crowd...

1. The lovely Kate

2. The ever pink Vixen

3. Amorous Chick

4. The hot CurvaceousDee.

5. Anyone who wants to do this TAG.

What is Mariposa's accent?!

Finally, I took this test to determine what American accent I have...I leeched this from one HNT participants I guess...I apologize for not linking...I'll try to find out who that is. If you get here, please let me know! ;)

So this is the result! (So to our VM, puh...leeaassee stop minding my accent because honestly, you are the only American who gives a fuss about it and while you compliment other people about their communication, makes me think what is your standard!!!) Seriously, can somebody volunteer to talk/ listen with/to me and tell if my accent really sucks?!

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

Need A Reason To Smile?

I started my day enthusiastically...but somehow, things went nuts and I don't just feel good after a day's work. I was at the office for 9 hours...and I did not take a break...had not eaten anything. Plus, I'm still mourning, remember that POST?

Hypothetically, what do you think is the motivation of a person who wants a copy of ALL stuff I've been working on, when he has NOTHING to do with it. My boss, the Operations Director told me NOT to give him. Period. I was being kind and told him, I can give him his copy when I have finalized it with the Director and when it is approved by corporate. Yet he insist! So I told him is there anything particular that concerns him or that he needs soon...NONE. He wants ALL of it. Just because! WTF??? Now you tell me...

But then, they say, just because you have a not so good breakfast don't mean you're going to have a bad lunch too...so let me go to other good things! Ah! I got another email from a
headhunter and she gave me a list of positions whom she thinks matches with my qualifications. Read as there are a number of companies about to open here and they are opening for several positions which I qualify and I just have to choose! WOOT! So I think I just have to consider their offers now...I had been stubborn for turning so many opportunities in the past...I now know better. That is a reason to smile I guess.

One more thing, a special person is coming! I hope. He is also a colleague but yah know we get along well and I love talking to this guy...makes me forget some of my worries...so I'm looking forward to seeing him again. I also asked him to bring me Tylenol...so headaches, bring it on! Another smile on face...ah! I just have to count the
Things I'm Grateful For.

How about you...have found your reason to smile today? I'm sure there are lots...

Here is one...

A kindergarten pupil told his teacher he'd found a cat, but it was dead. How do you know that the cat was dead?" she asked her pupil. "Because I pissed in its ear and it didn't move," answered the child innocently. "You did WHAT?!?" the teacher exclaimed in surprise. "You know," explained the boy, "I leaned over and went 'Pssst!' and it didn't move."

Another one? Okay, here goes...

A little boy was doing his math homework He said to himself, "Two plus five, that son of a bitch is seven. Three plus six, that son of a bitch is nine...." His mother heard what he was saying and gasped, "What are you doing?" The little boy answered, "I'm doing my math homework, Mom." "And this is how your teacher taught you to do it?" the mother asked. "Yes," he answered. Infuriated, the mother asked the teacher the next day, "What are you teaching my son in math?" The teacher replied, "Right now, we are learning addition." The mother asked, "And are you teaching them to say two plus two, that son of a bitch is four?" After the teacher stopped laughing, she answered, "What I taught them was, two plus two, THE SUM OF WHICH, is four."

Smiling now? One more...here!

One day the first grade teacher was reading the story of Chicken Little to her class. She came to the part of the story where Chicken Little tried to warn the farmer. She read, "... and so Chicken Little went up to the farmer and said, ' The sky is falling, the sky is falling!" The teacher paused then asked the class, "And what do you think that farmer said?" One little girl raised her hand and said, "I think he said: 'Holy Shit! A talking chicken!'" The teacher was unable to teach for the next 10 minutes.

And we ask why we just love children? They gave us endless reasons to SMILE!

P.S. The
I.T. Guy (aka Yummy) is out of town...he'll be back on Friday. He sent me a text this morning telling me he is worried that people will not sign up for Fun Monday and was asking if the theme he chose was too complex. Honestly, I love the theme, and I think it is easy and fun to do...so if you are interested to know about Fun Monday, kindly visit his SITE and if you feel like taking the challenge, please sign up. Let's give him a reason to smile!

TMI Tuesday #125

1. Under what conditions would you kiss a stranger?

I don't just kiss anybody...or maybe we have to define "stranger" here...LOL I've kissed a person whom I've known for weeks, and talk for days... ;) And the conditions...well, the usual...right place...right moment...right feelings...right person for THAT moment...

Fun Monday Movie: A Season of Love

I realized I need to do some introductions...LOL

Today's Fun Monday Host, Janet gives us the following challenge;

Write the brief synopsis of this film that you might use to pitch this project and cast the principal players. Who would play you? You can either cast or ignore significant others, children and/or pets. This is, after all, YOUR movie about you you YOU! Illustrate as needed with casting photos or filming locations. Your life not interesting enough? Hey, this is Hollywood. Never let the facts get in the way of a good story!

This is just one of the many chapters in the life of Mariposa...

A once-in-a-lifetime love affair that unfolds in a single brief season. A resonant story about the risks that must be taken to truly live and love brought about by an affair of a man who doesn't believe in forever with that of a young woman who has only a moment to give.

The story follows the sexual exploits of Michael Xenus (Pierce Brosnan) -

famous Software Engineer, verging-on-singlehood, playboy, master of the no-commitment seduction - until he runs into an unexpected dead end when he meets Mariposa (Zhang Ziyi).

Mariposa is almost half Michael's age and twice his match, a free spirit yearning to get out and taste the excitement of adult life.

They indulges their interest in each other, expecting yet another quick and easy romance. But nothing about their encounters are quick or easy; instead they are rife with intergenerational clashes, differing philosophies and an inexplicably urgent sense of sensuality and connection. Then, just as he attempts to escape from the relationship with his usual line about "not promising forever," she provides a surprise response: she has her own reasons to believe things absolutely can't last.

Freed for a moment from the confines of time, they pursue an affair unlike any other. It is a season-long encounter that will shatter Michael's preconceptions about women, sex and responsibility as real love - exhilarating, heartbreaking, enduring love - changes everything.

Love, in all its most delicious and devastating, frightening and challenging qualities, is a theme that runs throughout this chapter of Mariposa's life...

...the bittersweet enchantment of an old-fashioned love story set in today's hyper-fast world of technology, commitment-phobic bachelors, frequent May-December romances and independent young women.

WOOT, I made it! That was a REAL challenge! For more interesting FUN please check Janet's Planet.

Music Monday takes care of the musical scoring...

This is Lara Fabian's Broken Vow...

Tell me her name
I want to know
The way she looks
And where you go
I need to see her face
I need to understand
Why you and I came to an end
Tell me again
I want to hear
Who broke my faith in all these years
Who lays with you at night
When I'm here all alone
Remembering when I was your own

[Chorus:]

I'll let you go
I'll let you fly
Why do I keep asking why
I'll let you goNow that I found
A way to keep somehow
More than a broken vow
Tell me the words I never said
Show me the tears you never shed
Give me the touch
That one you promised to be mine
Or has it vanished for all time

[Chorus]

I close my eyes
And dream of you and I
And then I realize
There's more to life than only bitterness and lies
I close my eyes
I'd give away my soul
To hold you once again
And never let this promise end

[Chorus]
