Day to Read 2009!

Please scroll down for my Fun and Music Monday...

We're doing it again!

Do what, you may ask...

Well SMID started this brilliant idea last year by asking fellow bloggers the following favor --

On Jan. 10, 2008, let us take time to READ.

Read anything you wish to read...

but haven't taken the time to,

...a book...

a magazine...

a newspaper...

what have you!

After it's successful launch last year (which was actually this year!) Day to Read is back and hopefully with more participants this time! And yes, Mariposa...who is a book enthusiast...and can't seem to get herself off from anything that she can read...is joining again!

January 8, 2009!

Please mark your calendar...

And let's do it again!

I invite you ALL to join this wonderful initiative...

SMID has many reasons when she started this Day to Read;

Because according to a report released last year reading books is linked to civic engagement. This National Endowment for the Arts reports that young folks aren't reading like they used to. Get this:
  • only 30% of 13-year-olds read almost every day

  • the number of 17-year-olds who never read for pleasure increased from 9 percent in 1984 to 19 percent in 2004 - that is 1 in 5 kids don't read for fun

  • Almost half of Americans between ages 18 and 24 never read books for pleasure

  • The average person between ages 15 and 24 spends 2 to 2 1/2 hours a day watching TV and 7 minutes reading

According to Diane Gioia, the Chair of the NEA,

"The poorest Americans who read did twice as much volunteering and charity work as the richest who did not read. The habit of regular reading awakens something inside a person that makes him or her take their own life more seriously and at the same time develops the sense that other people's lives are real."
Where ever we are in the world, I guess there is a universal decline in people's interest to read...so I hope each of us will pull the stats up comes January next year!

January 8, 2009 turn off your computer and read...something, anything...then on Friday, January 9th, share to us what you read!

It will be fun, promise!

It's All About Christmas

Today is the second Monday of the month...and yes Christmas is getting nearer...and I always find myself in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the season.

I originally intend to post several things here...but just got a call and well, at 7:41 in the morning...I am not just in a mood to say it's a beautiful Monday!

I am not a self-acclaimed self-reliant person...but to get a call from somebody...to tell me about a problem he is having on the road...when I am still in my pajamas...and knowing I am helpless and knowing my mood swings...and a little twist and turn of my day can make me go back to being pill dependent and all is just outright selfish! First off, not only it will make me feel helpless...it puts me in a panic mood and to reject my call telling my I'm not a help after all?! F@ck that! Why called me in the first place?!?

Enough...

Okay...where was I...ah, Mamalang is our lovely FUN Monday host this week...and she sets the following as theme --

It's the Christmas season, and I want you to tell us what are your three favorite Christmas Carols and a picture of your favorite Christmas "thing". It could be a Christmas tree, or your mantle, or a church, you in a Santa hat.

So, it will be all about Christmas here...at least for today!

I am still not done with this whole decorating thing at home...but if you want to see a glimpse of what I had last year, click
HERE. That quite sums up what are some of the things I love about Christmas...

This part, I just added quick...one theme for Fun Monday last year was to feature a favorite ornament we have in our Christmas tree...so, if you could take a look at my quick header! ;) Yup, yup...

And for my favorite carol...I mean my favorite Christmas song...here is one, Nat King Cole's The Christmas Song...used to be I put it into auto play, but it might annoy some people...so there, just click it if you want to listen with me!

That's my entry for Music Monday too...

Weekend Randoms...

It's been raining here for 2 consecutive days...something which forced me to just stay at home, and since yesterday (yes, it's actually Sunday morning here!) I just stayed at home and watched DVDs.

So I'm trying this Saturday Survey concept for the first time. I've seen this around for awhile, and I've been wanting to do it but can't seem to figure it out how it's done...at first I thought it's something like TMI Tuesday and Wednesday Weirdness but can't find one main source...and when I am about to give it up...I found some nice survey here.

So I am trying this out...and feel free to take the survey, it's just few questions anyway! LOL

How many pairs of shoes do you own?

How do I answer this...can I say ALOT?!
I by 2-3 pairs every month...okay, not all fancy...but they're shoes/sandals/etc! Now, if you say Martinez Valero and Manolo Blahnik and other signature brands...then we can narrow them from being ALOT to a bit many to count... ;)

Are there certain Christmas /holiday movies that you watch every year?

Yes! My favorite for Christmas is Miracle on 34th Street...for other holidays...IT Guy and I watched our favorites...StarWars...movies of James of Bond...Under World...etc!

What magazines do you subscribe to?

I used to...but not anymore. If I happen to pass by the bookstore and I see something nice, I grab it...else, I just google it! LOL

Wait...do we count product catalogs?! ROFL

What is your favorite way to relax on Fridays at the end of a tough week?

My week ends Saturday morning my time...Friday evening EST (US)...I somtimes head straight to the mall and just dine out there with IT Guy...do some shopping (if there's anything I like and I can afford!). In the evening, I go to spa and get myself a massage...once a month I get a body scrub...and some weekends I have my nails done...most of the time, I do my own nails. I can do my french nails far better than the girls at the spa!!!

Have you had any snow days or late starts yet this year?

I live in the tropics...we have the sun all year round.

So there you go...

My Sunday Special will be posted maybe a little later!

Wish every one a fun Saturday night and a relaxing Sunday!

My Wordless Wednesday and Word Filled Wednesday is below, please scroll down!

Shattered...

"Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
do not fret - it only causes harm."
-Psalms 37:8

I was shamed...and now I am embarrass!

I have been weak, and once again I gave in to my temper. (See post below!)

It was ugly...unhealthy...unproductive...and simply not pleasing to His eyes.

My only consolation is that, it did not take that long for Him to get through my senses...and things were resolved in time. Praise God!

So my WFW today is to remind myself that anger will never do me any good...not only it hurts people I care and who cares for me, they are not good for me!

My Wordless Wednesday entry for today reflects the damage that anger do to us...to our body...to our soul. It's been years since I took shots like this...and well, took me two tries to get that perfect shot I wanted!

Happy (not so) WORDless FILLED Wednesday!

I'm Just Human

...and I'm entitled to be pissed!

I am fuming...and to say I'm pissed would be putting it mildly!

I am pounding my keyboard so hard typing every letter of this post...and yes, I want the world to know how upset, mad...in state of disbelief and denial on how many stupid people surround me...and you can include the IT Guy on the list...better yet, make him at the top!

Fuck!!! Fuck!!! Fuck!!!

Anybody who can't stand foul language...please stay away from my site...because I am just not able to control myself right now.

What will it make a man who confirmed to you as early as mid of November that he is going on a freaking looooooooooong leave about a week before Christmas! Now, Dec. 25 - Jan. 1 is a long holiday here...no work, yes, you got that. To have a week of extra leave for a week prior to that would be awesome or too much! But IT Guy said, he needed to avail of those because those are forced leave...meaning, he had exceeded his number of leaves...yup, yup, that's what happens when you intend to marry your fucking work! You get so much extra leave...and leave the people who cares for you dry!

CRAP!

Tonight, I opted not to eat dinner at home becase we (yes, the IT Guy!) were supposed to do some errands for our Christmas project and so we might as well dine out. Now, on the way to the mall, he told me...this --

The strategic plan scheduled for tom to Friday will not push through!

I said, great! You don't don't have to go out of town anymore...so when will it be...

He said, it's moved...not sure!

Then, after several chats...he goes, Mr. X called me up, and he was asking me if Dec. 21 - 23 is fine for strategic meeting...I said I have no problem! And Mr. X commented...yeah, because your're department is done.

Okay....

But, holy wow...his department is done...but WAIT! HE is freaking going that Dec. 21 - 23.

First off, what is that bullshit line on good for him you're done has to do with the schedule when he has to attend it, eh?!

Second, whatever my opinion is on the said schedule, why say, I have not problem, when he had filed his leave for those days!!!

Lastly, what is going on?! In my entire career I have never seen such urgency and importance for an organization, moreso, government, to do a STRAT PLAN on a Sunday before Christmas...and end it 24 hours before the Christmas eve!

What irritates me more is, IT Guy seems in a shock that I frown at the idea? Then he has a very big problem!

Mariposa: Well, if you don't mind working on Christmas...then marry your freaking work!

Mariposa left the building...took a cab...head to work!

I'm at my desk...hungry...realizing I have only so much in my wallet...because I forgot that my ATM card is with him because I asked him to withdraw for me earlier...and I also forgot to ask for the cash...

Lesson learned...stay away from people who'd rather fuck their desk at work...

Drive your own car...or bring a driver...or whatever and don't rely on just his car!

And lastly, always check the content of your wallet, because cabs don't take credit cards! CRAP!

And yes, IT Guy comes here...but don't worry, he only comes here if I force him to because I did a post for him...he thinks it's a waste of time...even my emails, gets to be read last!

I will never delete this post...and will publish this for sure...and may this day be a reminder that for ALL of you who thinks I'm blessed, I'm NOT!

This is not the first time this happens...

[EDITED]

IT Guy and I just had dinner and coffee...he came to the office. He was waiting for me outside...and he stood there, looking at me, and then he said -- "I'm sorry." He does not do that often! And of course, I went on ranting...and he said "I'm sorry.". Then, he said, he is not going to the STRAT Plan because his team is done with it...

Though I'm not deleting the post above (because I mean them when I wrote them!) I'd say here...that we're fine...and we're cool! I've been without B Complex for 3 days now...I ran out...so he was kidding me about it! LOL

Yes, it's not the first time this happened...but they say, the beauty of conflict lies on the reconciliation...that is one thing the IT Guy and I have in common, compassion towards each other...no one plays hard ball against the other party. If one is sorry, he/ she is forgiven. After all, whatever course we take and go through, at the end of the day, we know where we stand in each other's lives. I never had that kind of thing with my past lovers!

Back from Twilight!

Yes, I just got back from my sense...and if you have a not so busy Monday...you may you want to read the entire the post!

Time for my Busy Monday, a post full of mixed nuts!

So if you are here for a specific theme, you can either scroll down or click each --

Monday Movies...

FUN Monday...

Music Monday...

It has been a busy Monday for me...I was without internet during the weekend...and Mom got sick...and I was hustling and bustling making the house ready for the holidays! Ha!

Here is a run down of my crazy, chaotic, lovely life over the past days...

Saturday morning, we were busy preparing food for the children, yup, yup, my outreach is weekly! Off we go in the afternoon, it was full of fun and I am going to make a separate blog just to account my activities with the children and will make a post to link it up here.

Monday Movies

Saturday evening, IT Guy and I watched Twilight!

Oh my...I don't care if people would say it's a chic movie...I love it! SJI (for those who are new here, the is an ex turned into a best friend!) and Red has been telling me to watch it, and each of them has their own reason. Red said, I should watch it because of my fascination with Vampires...and he said, the romantic in me and the ever hopeful positive attitude of mine will like the twist in the story...while SJI said, you should watch it and pay close attention to Bella (the leading lady) so I get to see myself how I am when I get stupid...stubborn...and blinded. Nice! LOL

So we planned to get the LFS (last full show)...there were two theaters opened for it...and man, is the line long! Regardless, we're still lucky to get nice seats...

Now, let's go to the movie, oh boy, it was NICE! A feel good movie it is! And I'm inlove with it!

Bella has to moved from Phoenix to Washington State and be with her Dad. She went to Forks High to study and there she met the love of her life Edward Collins! Quite charming...though I have to admit, I did not find him that physically attractive...but hey, personality is sexy...so there, I love him within 2 minutes! LOL

It took one accident that let Edward reveal his special gift curse power to Bella by saving her from an accident which could have killed her! Then the story take so many turns from there...and comes Bella's discovery about Edward's real identity....making her confront him...he did not deny...he was honest...and wanted her to stay away from him...but well (as what SJI said...) she was stubborn...in love...and was not fearful in away. Her only fear was losing him, heck, he is immortal! Three things were sure then, (1) that Edward Collins is a vampire; (2) he can kill and harm people and (3) I am irrevocably and unconditionally in love with him...I mean SHE is! LOL

Two people, one human, the other a vampire...so in love...and through the test of time (ha, not much, just some chasing and fight...and bites...and few killings! ) once again, sending us the message that love conquers all! Oh my...I feel like I'm in my teens again...well, I always am! ROFL

My opinion---I kinda like the concept of vampires in the movie...they don't die if they get exposed to sunlight...and that it shows that even if one is built to kill, it is still a choice on what life to live...and how to live it! And that immortality is not really a good thing...and more than anything, let me ask you this;

If you can live forever, what will you live for?

Somebody told me he's going to live his life to be with me...can somebody turn us into vampires now!!!

FUN Monday

Our host for this week, is the lovely, Ari_1965. She set the following as this week's theme --

Tell us about your all-time worst Neighbors from Hell. You know, the family of Irish clog dancers who once lived in the flat/apartment above you? Mrs. Next door and her banshee-like multiple orgasms? Mr. and Mrs. Hard-of-Hearing with their television on full blast? The guys across the street who set off 4th of July fireworks starting in March and didn't stop until the first real snowfall?

I thought this is quite easy...'til I get to remember that, well, for the most part of my life, our house has been like...ummm...separated from the neighbors through high walls! Though that does not stop me from interacting with them, it certainly limits my exposure...and that makes me only remember the nice part...like parties in the neighborhood.

BUT, when we left the big old house, we get to live temporarily in a nasty not so nice community! Oh my, did they block our way so many freaking times! Yes, they park the motorbikes and put whatever they can in the drive way! And we have to effing call the police/traffic officers almost everyday. We finally moved out and gave up when one morning on the day home one man blocked his motorbike and confront us showing a gun tucked at his waist...something! Pfffft....I said, excuse me Sir, I think the gun is to pointed at your target, which in this context is ME, and make sure it is loaded...because the moment I take out mine, I'm telling you, my talent skill in guns will not make you outrun my bullet! That was me, my bigh mouth and my temper! The IT Guy, in panic mode, stepped down, and almost punched the guy... Fastforward, we moved to a way better neighborhood...and after 10 months...SJI and Red saw that moron, and okay...let me confess, we gave him a nice little "party". Think whatever you want...but the guy is alive...only, he will never look me the same way again...ever!

So there...happy late Fun Monday people!!!

I beg for Mo's indulgence this week for skipping Manic Monday, I will make it up Mo, promise!

So, let's go straight to Music Monday...here is ACDC with their Back in Black...why this one...just because! LOL
