Ours, In the Margins

We were never the main text —

too inconvenient, too far, too soon —

so we wrote ourselves into the margins instead,

small and certain,

where no one thought to look for something real.

I found you in the footnotes of a life

that wasn't looking for annotation,

and you found me

in the space between the lines

where the ache lives,

where the truth doesn't need permission

to be true.

They said the timing was wrong.

We said: noted.

And kept writing anyway —

in the packets between our days,

in the dreams we borrow without asking,

in the bubble we built

because the real world

didn't leave us any room.

This isn't a love with a chapter.

It's a love in the white space,

the parenthesis,

the quiet aside

that means more than the sentence it interrupts.

Not everyone gets a legacy.

Some of us just get the margins —

and I'll take it.

I'll take every stolen inch of you,

every unofficial hour,

every almost that still tastes like yes.

Because ours was never meant

to be the headline.

It was always meant

to be the note

you go back and reread —

the one written in the smallest hand,

in the tightest space,

that somehow says

the most.

You, In Every Room

I don't just miss you at 2am,

when the quiet gets too loud —

I miss you in the noise of noon,

lost inside a crowd.

I miss you when I'm laughing

at a joke you'd say much better,

I miss you folding into sentences

I wish I could've sent you —

no, meant for you, only you.

I miss you constant, never lost,

not some nighttime, weak-hour ghost.

You're the missing in the morning,

you're the missing I miss most.

It's not the dark that makes me ache,

it's every hour, every place —

a version of my whole day

that's just missing your face.

Parallel Lines

Perhaps you will always be my parallel line—

two paths drawn by the same steady hand,

running so close, so achingly aligned,

yet never touching, never planned

to merge, to fold, to intertwine.

But tell me, is that truly loss?

Two lines that never cross

still hold their shape, their quiet grace,

still travel forward, side by side,

still keep the other's rhythm, pace,

a silent kind of stride.

I think of you not as an ache,

though pain has surely lived here too—

I think of you as sunlight on a lake,

a warmth that doesn't need to break

the water's skin to shine on through.

We were never meant to fuse,

to become one single, tangled thread.

We were meant to walk, to choose

our own direction, yet instead

of drifting far, of growing loose,

we stayed. We held the space between

like something sacred, something clean.

There is a strength in loving so,

in letting distance be the proof

that what we share will never go

the way of things that come unglued.

Some loves are built to hold, to grow

inside the shape of almost, too.

So let me be your parallel line—

forever near, forever true,

a love that doesn't need to twine

to be a love that's real, that's mine,

that's ours, in whatever form we knew.

For joy can live inside the ache,

and beauty in the space we keep,

and souls don't need to touch to make

a bond that's powerful, and deep.

Perhaps we'll never meet, my dear,

but perhaps we don't need to—

two lines that ran the whole way here,

never one, yet never through.

What I Remain

My love for you knows no far edge,
no border where it stops or bends —
it grew past wanting, past the need
to be repaid for what it spends.

If strength is what these days demand,
I'll be the one who carries weight.
I'll stand with you against the odds,
unmoved by distance, doubt, or fate.

But if my staying costs you peace,
if my shadow dims your light —
then let me be the one who leaves,
so you can walk back into bright.

Both roads take something out of me.
Only one should cost you still.
I'd rather empty my own hands
than watch you break against your will.

All I have ever wanted, love,
is for the weight to lift from you —
the worry, and the quiet ache,
the burdens I may have walked you through.

I meant it once, I mean it now:
I'll bear what people bear for love.
When you are walking through the fire,
don't stop — there's nothing waiting of

value in the flame itself.
Keep moving till you're through the worst.
I'm sorry for the parts of this
that trace back to me, or came in first.

Whatever door you choose to take,
I won't pretend it's owed to me.
This love was never built on terms —
it simply is. It lets you be.

So here's my hand, if you should need it,
and here's the space, if that serves best.
I remain — however this reads —
still yours, in motion or at rest.

One Last Time

Promise me this one thing…

When the end is close, and there is barely enough of me left to hold on,

find your way back to me.

Not to stay —

just long enough for my heart to remember

what it felt like to be whole,

before it finally says goodbye.

My Favorite Poetry Lines

I am so proud that I am back!
Back to myself...coffee is all it takes...

WOOT, I am doing Thursday Thirteen this week.
And I commit to continuously do it...I so hope, for the love me! Ha!

Anyway...as suggested by Colleen, "POETRY" is my theme.
Love my alpha and omega entry... ;)

Enjoy everyone...I'd so love you to drop my your favorites in the comment box!
Happy hump day y'all!

1. Pablo Neruda, 100 Love Sonnets

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you simply, without problems or pride: I love you in this way because I do not know any other way of loving but this, in which there is no I or you, so intimate that your hand upon my chest is my hand, so intimate that when I fall asleep your eyes close.

2. E.E. Cummings

I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart)
I am never without it (anywhere I go you go,my dear;
and whatever is done by only me is your doing,my darling)
I fear no fate (for you are my fate,my sweet)
I want no world (for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you here
is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart)

3. Khalil Gibran, The Prophet

You talk when you cease to be at peace with your thoughts.

4. Mary Oliver

Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

5. Walt Whitman

What is that you express in your eyes? It seems to me more than all the print I have read in my life.

6. J.R.R. Tolkien

Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate And though I oft have passed them by A day will come at last when I Shall take the hidden paths that run West of the Moon, East of the Sun.

7. Seamus Heaney, Stepping Stones: Interview with Seamus Heaney

If you have the words, there's always a chance that you'll find the way.

8. Anne Sexton

As it has been said: Love and a cough cannot be concealed. Even a small cough. Even a small love.

9. Ian Fleming, You Only Live Twice

You only live twice: Once when you're born And once when you look death in the face.

10. Andrea Gibson

That night when you kissed me, I left a poem in your mouth, and you can hear some of the lines every time you breathe out.

11. Mae West

You are never too old to become younger!

12. William Shakespeare, Sonnet 116

Love is not love Which alters when it alteration finds, Or bends with the remover to remove. O no, it is an ever-fixed mark That looks on tempests and is never shaken; It is the star to every wand'ring bark, Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.

13. Neil Gaiman, Fragile Things: Short Fictions and Wonders

She seems so cool, so focused, so quiet, yet her eyes remain fixed upon the horizon. You think you know all there is to know about her immediately upon meeting her, but everything you think you know is wrong. Passion flows through her like a river of blood. She only looked away for a moment, and the mask slipped, and you fell. All your tomorrows start here.

I hope you enjoy my entries!

Dreams

All people dream, but not equally.
Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their mind,
Wake in the morning to find that it was vanity.

But the dreamers of the day are dangerous people,
For they dream their dreams with open eyes,
And make them come true.

If I Can't...I'd Rather Not

every second seemed to heavy to pass
the hands the clock move as if pained
hours in between roil in a seething mass
hours faded away moments just waned
if i can't sleep with you beside me
i'd rather not sleep at all

sleepless eyes open to herald the dawn
rolling and tossing, all attempts in vain
reliving everything that's said and gone
yet another attempt to hide the pain
if i can't wake with you beside me,
i'd rather not wake at all

the little things do not mean the same
without you there's nothing left to see
hope it's not gone for no one's to blame
fervent desire for another chance maybe
if i can't be me with you beside me,
i'd rather not be me at all

Making Memories On My Own!

The other week, I started my first Special Sunday where I combine my and in one post.

I missed it last Sunday since I opted to rest my colds...

Today, I want to make it official, every Sunday here will be a celebration of life through sunset and sunrise...in different forms!

Below is just one of the many facets of Mariposa's life...

The writer in her...

The ironies in her life...

The fond memories she gathers from the magic of her imagination...

As the last rays of sunset lingers
a moment over the silent fields...

As it slowly surrenders into
the oblivion of the night...

I find myself humming softly
not to some melody

but of something else...
some place else,

a place remembered...
some moment reminisced;

eternal fields of green
where no one else has been

and the memory is strengthened
by the feeling of you,
with me dancing in your arms.

Ah, memories with you always feels good,
even those which I have only imagined!
