Fun n' Music on a Manic Monday!

It's another beautiful Monday once again my dear friends...another day to celebrate life and our gifts of family and friends!

It's Monday Fever again for Mariposa so kindly scroll down for Fun...Music...Manic Monday entries!

It's Manic Doodle Monday today! And Mo committed to donate 50¢
to Cat Friends Helping Friends for very blog that post a doodle of a cat and leave their links at Manic Monday.

I'm not so fond of cats but the IT Guy loves cats...and in as much as I want to support this initiatives...I just can't come up with my own doodle last minute so instead I'm posting this doodle demo by Petitangegris, hope you have fun!

Fun Monday this week is hosted by the Sauntering Soul and she sets the following theme -

"I know we all try to be sweet and kind to people the majority of the time. But let's face it....we also know that sometimes we can be a big jerk. It could be that you experience road rage from time to time. Perhaps you empty the coffee pot at work some mornings and don't feel like taking the time to start a new pot for the next person. Or maybe you don't return phone calls on a timely basis when you know someone needs a response from you. Have you ever "accidentally" ruined a favorite shirt of your spouse just because you didn't care for it? Come on - it's confession time! List the small things you do that make you a jerk and elaborate just a bit on each one. Please tell me I'm not the only jerk around here!"

I found a very interesting definition online, and it says -

Jerk is sarcastic, mean, unforgiving and never misses an opportunity to make a cutting remark. - Source

Hmmm...this is a bit of a challenge for me, really. Oh no, not because I've never been a jerk...but because I think I AM most of the time...especially at work when I am with my "mentally challenged" colleagues!

So, let me tell you a very recent moment I had with a colleague! I call her 32 of her mental speed. Our PC now has at least 2GB of memory (well mostly) so with that said, it's like that is the normal curve of memory capacity right now...but hers? Ha! she got stuck at 32 Kb (take note, small b for bits not bytes!) That how slow she is!

So the other week, we were in a restaurant and we were having dinner with client. It was dinner buffet with a wide selection of food...from Asian...American...European. Of course, Mariposa, who is crazy with sushi and sahimi...(remember that POST?!) I chose nothing but sushis and sashimis!

We're not really into good terms because I'm a jerk and she's 32! LOL So I was minding my business when she said it out loud - "Why do we have to use chopsticks when we are into modern times and we have invented spoons and forks?" Worst, she said that pointing at me because I was with chopsticks!

I have been using chopsticks since I was a kid...so I can use it so well. BUT that did not prompt me to be judgemental towards people who does not know how to use them. In fact, I'm compassionate to people who does not know how and I most of the time, take time teaching them! But to mind people who uses chopsticks on their sushis and sashimis, c'mon!!!

So I looked at her and asked her does she like sushi? Because I can get her some using my chopsticks because modern inventions like spoons and forks (which are metals!) alters the taste of the sushi so it's not wise to use those on them! (I know it's a crazy idea but my Japanese GrandMa used to tell me that, so she either use wood or ceramic chopsticks...at worst her hand! See? Spoon and Fork were not options!) And I offered help because I know she does not know how to use the chopsticks!

I was so ready to let it go when I saw her still continue making a fuss on it...then comes my turn! She was using the wrong knife for her bread...and was using the wrong fork for her salad...and she forgot to put her napkin on her lap...it was on her freaking table mat the whoel freaking time! So I looked at her and told her...use this for your salad...that for the butter of your bread...and you don't eat your appetizers with your dessert!

So I look at everybody and told them, well, I think regardless if we use chopsticks or those modern inventions...the most important thing to remember is to know how and when to use them...ah, my Mom calls that table manners!!! Next topic! ROFL

She got so embarrassed I guess that she left early...but we hardly notice her absence...after all, 32Kb does not mean a lot! I'm not sorry...not a bit...not at all! THAT was nothing compared to ALL the things she did to me and other people at work! For some of you who has been reading my blog for over a year would know how much stress and emotional turmoil this b*tch had caused me...and I'm so ready to forget compassion if it's about her!

I know...Jerk begets Jerk! :P

Wow! I never thought I could blog about it...never told anyone about it except the IT Guy! LOL

I will be hosting next week's Fun Monday...so please be back tomorrow for the theme...I'm inviting youn ALL to join the fun!

The IT Guy who religously updates the content of my iPod changed all its songs to Beatles! I'm so happy...so for the past days, I'm listening to Beatles...and how I love them. So for my Music Monday...I'm posting the female version of Yesterday. This is Syesha Mercado of the American Idol...I think this is one of her best performance ever!

I wonder if most of the time people realize when they're being jerky, ya know? In her case, I'm not sure she had a clue.

When you get your new theme, let me know and I'll add it to the master list! (Do I dare say "sign me up" without knowing what it is???)

I have worked with people I'd just a-soon slap as look at - which is a very rare feeling for me. But I can relate - those people seem to find us!

Funny...when I lived in Japan this was the most popular song on the Karaoke machines.

Happy MMM! Stop by and see my music selection.

p.s. Wish I had an It guy to update my Ipod.

I admire that you had the guts to actually say all that stuff to the 32 jerk! I'd be biting my tongue, then probably drive home afterwards, yelling at every car I pass.

I also admire your use of chopsticks. I have tried and tried and just can't get the hang of it. You should do a youtube video on how to use them! I know I'd watch it!

I'm not sure I would have been brave enough to do that~ good for you.
I really need a lesson in using chopsticks I keep trying but somehow I can't quite master the technique!

I agree with Robin - if 32B is really that slow - she didn't have a clue in the first place.

And if you think about it historically - the East was using chopsticks for YEARS while the "white" man was still using his fingers to eat - that makes the chopstick a pretty good utensil.

Syesha isn't always my favorite performer on AI, but I think she's due to have an amazing career in musical theater, and she's sure done amazing work the past few weeks. Nice choice for MM!

And Happy Monday!

OK, assertive and jerk may not be the same thing. BUT, I wouldn't want to cross you!

Have a happy day!

Ah, it only takes one toxic person in the workplace--after two years of retirement I can still describe everything that made my superviser a jerk.

P.S. My slightly tardy FM post is now up. Is that being a jerk??

Mariposa, loved watching the doodle being drawn! Thanks! :)

She was definitely a jerk, and ignorant as well. Good for you standing up for yourself.
And I loved the cute cat doodle and the song. Have a fabulous Monday and I can't wait for your theme for next week. :D

Wow- your colleague sounds like the jerk to me. I don't think you're being too awful to her!

I'd love to participate next week with whatever you choose for us. Can't wait to see what it will be!

Awesome post! I cannot use chopsticks at all but rather than putting you down for using them I would be begging you to teach me how. You were not the jerk dear. Your co-worker was.

Anonymous said...

I do not know how to use chopsticks and would be more than happy to have to teach/show or get the darn food for me with yours. 32 is the bigger jerk!

Well, I am chop-sticked challenged, but still enjoy giving it a try.

Ol' 32 has got a lot to learn about living.

I am very proud of the fact that I can eat with chopsticks, including rice! Thumbs up to you!

It took me a long time to learn to use chopsticks, but I've been complimented on my technique by folks who grew up with them... We don't eat out much these days so I'm probably out of practice.

I never did learn which fork was which though...

I don't know why but every time I've had a coworker like that, they've been my boss.

Hmm ... think that you can lend me IT Guy? Neither my hubby nor I would even know how to load an iPod let alone turn it on. How sad is that .....

As for 32 .. wow ... sounds like she is a real treat. I am amazed that you have been able to keep your cool for that long ... or perhaps I need to look back at previous posts to see that you may have taught her other lessons. Sigh ... people.

At least you were upfront! It would have been a LOT jerkier if you had said all that behind her back - ya know?
