As It Is Written...

Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer
and on the third day rise from the dead,
and that repentance and forgiveness of sins
should be proclaimed in his name to all nations,
beginning from Jerusalem.
Luke 24: 46-47

It's Holy Week, and in my place we follow the Catholic way of practicing Days of Holy Week. It'll be a long weekend here starting tomorrow. As a Catholic country, Maunday Thursday and Good Friday are holidays here...some people hit the beach...and the majority just stay at home...some take it as a time to rest, relax and be with family, others make it as an opportunity to reflect and meditate. My family and I belongs to the latter... Usually every Holy Wednesday as we call this day here, we go to confessions...I'm still not sure if I can do it today, yet I make it a point that I go for retreat and confessions regularly anytime of the year so this is not really an issue for me. Tomorrow afternoon, we go to mass for the tradition washing of the feet which is called "pamasa" in our local dialect. In the evening I'm doing Visita Iglesia with my family and the IT Guy. We visit several churches within the City (traditionally we are to cover seven churches) and pray the Way of the Cross. Friday afternoon we go to mass for the Seven Words, which as normally call Siete Palabras and at around 3 o'clock there is a procession...

So that is how my holidays will be spent...but more than the church activities, I'm so looking forward to spending time with myself and read passages in the Bible...

Saturday will be a day for relaxing and getting ready for Easter! Ah, Easter, that calls for another post this Sunday...

What about you, how will you spend your Holy Week? Any plan for Easter?

I wish you all a blessed Wednesday and may you enjoy the rest of the week!

Yes, I will be going tomorrow..our catechums will be having their feet washed by the priest. It is such a powerful Mass...and 3:00..on Friday I will be going to Mass....remembering what it took for my salvation as I gaze upon the crucifixion that is covered in cloth,. just as His body was covered in the tomb...thank you so much for such a powerful post.

I enjoy reading about your plans for Holy Week.

My weekend will be pretty busy. However, I am looking forward to it. Our church choir is singing this weekend. We will have 6 services this weekend and we will be singing at each one of them.

I can't wait to see and hear how people will bless spiritually through praise & worship, dramas (skits), and God's Word.

Thanks so much for sharing!! Happy WFW!!

Loved to read your post and "Holy Week" traditions....
My church has also every evening a reading and tonight "the preperation service for tomorrow. "White Thursday service with Holy Meal"
Friday is a short reading from 14.30 to a little after 1500. At 1500 are exactly the spoken out of Jesus on the cross.........Friday is such an emotional reading..I missed some years due to work but this year i got unexpectedly free from today until after Resurrectionday so.I look forward to those reflecting evenings and days......
About Easter i will post on my blo,,,

Blessings for this "Holy Week"

Sounds like great traditions and a busy time! I hope you are enjoying this Holy Week. We don't do anything that extensive, but we do worship and Sunday afternoon the kids and grandkids will come up for lunch. I bought their Easter happies last night. So fun! I know it's not what Easter is all about but it's fun to give them things any time and they have some really cute things at Easter. Great WFW! Happy WFW and Happy Easter!
